Respected Sir/Madam,
I am writing to bring to your kind attention the serious traffic congestion and road safety concerns caused by the narrow bridge located near Jnanabharathi Metro Station, Bengaluru University Gate, towards Mysore Road, Bengaluru.
I am a college student who travels daily along this route for my regular commute. As a daily commuter, I frequently experience the difficulties caused by the narrow bridge and the heavy traffic passing through it. The congestion leads to delays, inconvenience and concerns regarding the safety of road users. The situation is particularly challenging during peak hours, when a large number of vehicles attempt to pass through the restricted space.
The bridge is narrow in comparison to the volume of traffic it accommodates. The continuous movement of two-wheelers, cars, buses and other vehicles restricts smooth traffic flow and often results in long queues. Due to the limited width, motorists have very little room to manoeuvre safely, increasing the possibility of sudden braking, vehicle conflicts and accidents. The congestion may also obstruct emergency vehicles, potentially delaying access to people requiring urgent assistance.
As a student travelling through this route every day, I am concerned about the time lost in traffic and, more importantly, the potential safety risks faced by students, employees and other commuters. A road infrastructure facility that serves so many people should provide sufficient capacity for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles.
Exact location of the bridge:
In view of these concerns, I respectfully request the BBMP and the concerned authorities to take the following measures:

Conduct an on-site inspection to assess the bridge's existing width, structural condition, traffic volume and the extent of congestion.

Examine the feasibility of widening or expanding the bridge, or constructing an additional bridge if technically and financially feasible, to accommodate the growing traffic demand.

Improve the connecting roads and approach junctions to ensure smoother vehicle movement and reduce congestion around the bridge.

Implement immediate traffic-management measures while a permanent infrastructure solution is being considered.

Prioritise road safety and emergency access by evaluating the risks associated with the narrow bridge and its surrounding roads.

Provide an action plan and expected timeline for the proposed inspection and further improvements.
For your reference, I am attaching photographs and video recordings showing the bridge, the surrounding road conditions and the traffic congestion experienced at this location. These materials provide visual evidence of the difficulties faced by commuters and highlight the need for an appropriate infrastructure solution.
I sincerely request the BBMP and the relevant engineering authorities to consider this matter seriously and take the necessary steps to improve the bridge and its surrounding road infrastructure. Widening or expanding the bridge, wherever technically feasible, would help reduce commuting delays, improve traffic flow and enhance safety for daily commuters, including students who depend on this route.
I submit this request in the public interest and hope that the concerned authorities will inspect the location and initiate appropriate action at the earliest.
