The Assistant Executive Engineer
Public Grievance Officer
BBMP or BWSSB or KSPCB
Respected Sir or Madam,
I am writing to bring to your urgent attention a serious regulatory and environmental violation regarding the handling of reject wastewater at a public drinking water purification plant in our locality.
1. Location Details:
Plant Location or Landmark: [Insert Exact Landmark, example: Near Main Bus Stop
Ward Name Byatarayanapura/Jakkur Layout
Number 5
Kiosk ID or Vendor Name: Not Displayed
2 Details of the Issue:
The RO water purification unit is discharging its high TDS reject water directly into the municipal sewage line or stormwater drain or public street through an exposed pipe.
As per CPCB and KSPCB directives, public RO water kiosks must not dump reject water into sewage systems or storm drains due to high salt and mineral concentration, which harms wastewater treatment processes and wastes huge volumes of water. Furthermore, the continuous flow of waste water around the area is causing stagnation, leading to unsanitary conditions and potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
3. Requested Action:
I request your department to inspect the site and issue instructions to the operator to:
-
Immediately stop the direct discharge of reject water into the municipal drainage line.
-
Install compliant wastewater management mechanisms like secondary recovery units or storage tanks for non potable use.
-
Ensure strict compliance with environmental and hygiene guidelines.
I have attached photo evidence showing the pipe discharging directly into the drain.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this public concern. I request you to kindly update me on the action taken.
Yours sincerely |
