SIR SELLING CIGARETTES AND TOBACCO PRODUCTS JUST OPPOSITE TO EMERLED INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL BEGUR ROAD HONGASANDRA BANGALORE.
In India, the sale of cigarettes and any other tobacco products within a 100-yard (approx. 91 m) radius of any educational institution is strictly prohibited by law under Section 6 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003. Near resident place and near school. The unauthorized tobacco vendors, operating openly opposite to EMERALD INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL BEGUR ROAD HONGASANDRA BANGALORE at are not only endangering the health of residents in 13th main, but also by exposing schoolchildren to harmful substances and by selling cigarettes to youngster whose age is below 21.
Even smokers block the road by parking four wheelers and two wheelers at their own will bothr, leading to road blockage during peak hours. This is a grave concern as it promotes tobacco use among impressionable young students and disrupts the safe environment of our community. Despite repeated complaints to local authorities, no effective action has been taken to curb this illegal activity.
I urge the BBMP to take immediate steps to:
Investigate and shut down these illegal tobacco sales outlets.
To Cancel BBMP trade license for misusing it.
Enforce strict compliance with COTPA regulations.
Conduct regular inspections to prevent recurrence of such activities in residential arears.
The health and safety of our children and residents are at stake, and I request your prompt intervention to address this issue. Please provide an update on the actions taken at the earliest.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. |
